In the great pantheon of ridiculous pre-season preparations, Coventry City’s warm-up for the 1993/94 season will surely take some beating.
The Sky Blues eschewed more modern go-tos such as far-flung trips to the Far East or the USA. Instead, manager Bobby Gould made the unusual choice to take his crop of top-flight footballers to an army barracks in Aldershot. Yeah, that’s not exactly textbook, is it?
