Magnus Hedman arrived at Coventry City in the summer of 1997, you would have forgiven him for assuming he was coming to immediately be first choice goalkeeper.
He was only 24 years old when he made the move from his native Sweden to Coventry but he already had 127 league appearances under his belt with AIK and had made his national team debut.
He was also a long-time target for the Sky Blues.
‘I knew Coventry were looking at me, Bryan Richardson was watching me when AIK played Barcelona and I had a good game,’ Hedman told me in an interview for the book When The Sky Was Blue.
