Leo Østigård: ‘I cried a lot when I left Coventry’

There was little about Leo Østigård's season at Coventry City that should have made it particularly easy to fall in love with the club.
He never played a competitive home game in Coventry. He never experienced a packed stadium of Coventry supporters. He arrived in 2020 as a young Brighton loanee at a newly-promoted Championship club whose primary ambition was simply to survive.
Less than a year later, he was hugging Mark Robins and Adi Viveash goodbye – and crying.
‘When I went to say goodbye to Mark and Adi, I cried a lot,’ he tells The Phoenix. ‘I was hugging Mark and Adi and crying. I was sad that I had to leave.’
