It is understandable that Caleb Yirenkyi's move to Coventry City has generated a mixture of excitement and uncertainty among the club's supporters.

After all, as Coventry prepare for their return to the Premier League after 25 years away, the club have spent a reported £26m on a very young midfielder with limited game time at the highest level, whose only club experience so far has come in the Danish league.

That would suggest this signing is a risk – especially for a team who, prior to this summer, had a record transfer fee of £7.7m. Prior to that the Sky Blues hadn’t spent more than £6m on a single player since the summer of 2000.
