With the departure of Jahnoah Markelo after just over seven months at Coventry City, and the recent 28-year anniversary of Robert Jarni’s comically short stay at the club, it got me thinking about players who left the Sky Blues before they had even got settled.
Chris Whyte is a name that sticks out in this regard.
A top-flight title winner with Leeds in 1991/92, the central defender enjoyed a distinguished career that started with Arsenal back in 1980. By 1995, he was 34 years old and looked to be coming towards the end of his playing days. He was in the middle of a three-year stint at Birmingham City, where he would make 68 appearances.
