Coventry City would be getting a solid defender but one who struggles going forward if they were to sign reported target Melvin Bard.

That is the view of Romain Lafont, a French journalist who previously covered Bard’s club Nice for L’Équipe.

Reports emerged this afternoon from journalist Sébastien Denis that Bard was a €10m target for the Sky Blues. He added, however, that at least one other club is also in the hunt for the left-back.

On hearing the news, The Phoenix got straight on the phone to Lafont, who painted an interesting picture of the potential new signing.
