Bye, bye Bassette: Norman heads back to Belgium

For the briefest moment, Norman Bassette was earmarked as a successor to Viktor Gyokeres. As it turned out, he was nothing of the sort.
He arrived in Coventry in the summer of 2024, joining for an undisclosed fee and signing a four-year contract. He came from French side Caen after a reasonably productive loan spell with Belgian club KV Mechelen, where he had scored five goals in 22 appearances.
Now, the Bassette dream is (almost) over. He has left the Sky Blues on a season-long loan to Belgian club KVC Westerlo. It appears highly unlikely that he will ever make the kind of impact that Coventry fans thought he may be capable of; not at the CBS at least. His was a star that shined brightly but briefly during the opening months of his time in sky blue.
