For the briefest moment, Norman Bassette was earmarked as a successor to Viktor Gyokeres. As it turned out, he was nothing of the sort.
He arrived in Coventry in the summer of 2024, joining for an undisclosed fee and signing a four-year contract. He came from French side Caen after a reasonably productive loan spell with Belgian club KV Mechelen, where he had scored five goals in 22 appearances.
