There was a spell in the first half against Brighton when Coventry City looked perfectly comfortable trading blows with their Premier League rivals.

After an opening 20 minutes in which they were pinned inside their own half by a Brighton side that looked fluid and classy on the ball, the Sky Blues began carving out chances. The problem, just as it was against Manchester City, was that those chances were not taken. Brighton took theirs.

They also benefited from some poor defending and a red card as they eventually swept Coventry aside in a chastening 5-0 defeat.
