Coventry City are closing in on the signing of Ethan Pinnock – a traditional defender who will put his body on the line.

That is the view of Mike Johnston, host of The Ealing Road Podcast, who sees Pinnock as an excellent addition to the Coventry squad.

The Phoenix spoke to Johnston shortly after news broke that Coventry were working on a £6m deal to bring the 33-year-old defender to the CBS from Brentford.

‘Coventry are getting someone who is a traditional defender,’ Johnston told The Phoenix. ‘He does the traditional defending first. He isn’t on the level of others in his ball playing but if you want someone to defend your box and someone who is relatively calm on the ball, he’s your man.
