Jahnoah Markelo, we barely knew thee. The Suriname winger arrived in January in a £4.3m move. Seven months later, he's gone.
Markelo has joined Shabab Al-Ahli Dubai on a permanent transfer. The figures are, of course, undisclosed but it is thought that the Sky Blues have not made a loss on a player who came in for a cup of coffee and then was on his way again.
When he arrived, expectations were high. He had just turned 23 and was thought to have all of the raw attributes to, in time, become a top player. He was a perfect fit for the Doug King transfer profile. In hindsight, he may simply have arrived at the wrong moment.
