Not all 1-0 defeats are built the same. This time last week, Sky Blues fans were despondent after a gut-punch of a loss against Hull.
Seven days later, it’s the same scoreline but a very different feeling after Coventry were beaten 1-0 by Manchester City at the Etihad.
Against Hull, the Sky Blues dominated possession but, in truth, created very little. Against Manchester City, they had just 22% of the ball but created enough chances to take a point – perhaps even all three.
It was a hugely encouraging performance that showed organisation, fight and, crucially, the ability to carve out openings against one of the best teams in the country. The only thing missing was the finish.
