Matt Grimes has come in for plenty of criticism following Coventry City's difficult start to life in the Premier League.

The Sky Blues skipper has struggled to replicate the influence he had in the Championship last season, when he was so often the man who dictated the tempo of Coventry's play, collected the ball from deep and helped Frank Lampard's side control matches. That influence has been noticeably absent this season, with Grimes increasingly finding himself on the periphery of games.

The statistics make for uncomfortable reading.

In 756 minutes of Premier League football, Grimes has registered no goals, no assists and, perhaps most concerningly, just one key pass, according to data from xGStat.
