Jake Bidwell: How Coventry City's Mr Professional is a shining light for those around him

A lot has been made, quite rightly, of Gus Hamer's insistence on lining up for Coventry City's under-21s in their win over Swansea earlier this week.
Despite getting 12 minutes (plus eight minutes of stoppage time) under his belt against Spurs on Monday night, Hamer played an hour for Liam Kelly's development squad less than 24 hours later.
A player of Hamer's stature lining up for the youth team often raises questions. Is he returning from injury? Has he been struggling for form? Has he been sent to play with the kids as some form of punishment?
There wasn't a sniff of any of that. Hamer was there because he wanted to play. He knows Sky Blues fans are yet to see the best of him and he's determined to regain his match sharpness and make an impact in the Premier League. It's an admirable attitude and one that has rightly earned him plenty of plaudits.
