A few weeks back I was a guest on Lorna Bailey’s CWR Breakfast show. During that appearance, Lorna raised an interesting question: why is the Coventry City club badge being seen less and less frequently?

It is a question that plenty of supporters have posed over the last few months. Take post-match press conferences, for example.

On the wall behind Frank Lampard you will normally see the elephant logo that the club has pushed with greater regularity in recent months, the names of various sponsors and the word ‘COV’.

That latter term has prompted some debate in itself. ‘Sky Blues’ appears to have become less prominent in the club’s branding, as has PUSB. There is the reported issue of the latter being trademarked by someone outside the club, although it does still adorn matchday programmes. COV, meanwhile, has certainly become much more visible.
