Coventry City are off the mark. A 1-0 win away to Nottingham Forest means the Sky Blues do not go into the international break rooted to the bottom of the Premier League. A Jay Dasilva goal was the difference, but this was about much more than one moment.
Frank Lampard made some enormous calls with his team selection. He changed the shape again. He trusted players who had seemingly been superseded by more expensive summer signings. He threw a teenage loanee into the heart of his defence. Had it gone wrong, the pressure would have intensified. Instead, Lampard was vindicated.
