Do Coventry City have a problem at left back? It has long appeared one of the obvious areas for the Sky Blues to strengthen ahead of their return to the Premier League but, with just a week to go until the new season begins, no new left-back has arrived.

That leaves Jay Dasilva and Jake Bidwell as Frank Lampard's two senior options. Both turned in excellent performances in last Saturday's friendly against Espanyol, but both also come with significant Premier League question marks.

Dasilva firmly established himself as first-choice left-back last season, but it had been much of a muchness between him and Bidwell during the previous two campaigns. The changing of the guard is obvious in their playing time. In 2023/24, Dasilva played 2,297 minutes to Bidwell's 2,049. A year later, it was actually Bidwell who spent longer on the pitch, playing 2,064 minutes to Dasilva's 1,804.
