Frank Lampard has rung the changes for tonight’s Carabao Cup tie against Aston Villa, with nine players out from Sunday’s defeat to Brighton.
Bobby Thomas and Aurele Amenda are the sole survivors from the weekend. They start in front of goalkeeper Daniel Bentley. Joel Latibeaudiere and Stephen Mfuni start at full back.
Gus Hamer and Caleb Yirenkyi replace Matt Grimes and Frank Onyeka in midfield, while Victor Torp, Yann Gboho and Tatsuhiro Sakamoto start. Sidiki Cherif is the lone striker.
Jake Bidwell, who of course has not been named in the club’s 25-man Premier League squad, is eligible to play in the cup and he starts on the bench.
On the bench, he is joined by Ben Wilson, Ellis Simms, Ethan Pinnock, Brandon Thomas-Asante, Ephron Mason-Clark, Loum Tchaouna, Matt Grimes and Frank Onyeka.
Kick off is on the way at 8pm as the Sky Blues look to follow-up their second round victory over Plymouth with a victory over their Midlands rivals.
